House rules
Giethoorn is a living village with people who live along the canals. The municipality has enforced the rules on the water since 2025, so keep the party fun for everyone.

Make it a full programme
Start with a one-hour canal cruise at € 10 per person while a captain tells the stories, then take the wheel yourselves. Or book a private open sloop with a captain from € 80 for up to 12 friends.
Hungry afterwards? The restaurant at the cruise dock serves a two- or three-course dinner from € 24.50. Staying over? Hotel Old Art is right there.
Questions about bachelor parties
Can we drink on the boat?
Yes, passengers can enjoy drinks and a borrel box. The person steering does not drink. Please read our boating rules.
How many friends fit in one boat?
Up to 12 in the 12-person or VIP sloop. Larger groups take several boats and follow the same route in the app.
Can we bring our own drinks?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own. Please take your empties back with you.
What happens if we break the rules?
The municipality enforces speed and noise rules on the canals, and fines are yours to pay. Overloading a boat also voids the insurance.
Do we need to book in advance?
Weekends and summer days sell out. Book online in advance to secure the boats at the best price.
