Giethoorn is built around water, and so are its campsites. Camping De Kragge and Vakantiepark Giethoorn both sit directly on the Bovenwijde, the lake at the edge of the village. Motorhomes have their own site at Camperplaats Haamstede on the Kanaaldijk.
From any of them, our boat rental at Zuiderpad 14A is a short drive or cycle ride. Park for free, step into a whisper boat and be out on the water within minutes.

Campervans: what is and is not allowed
No overnight stays at our sitesOur car parks at Zuiderpad 14A and Hylkemaweg 7 are for day visitors. Sleeping in a camper there is not allowed.
Use Camperplaats HaamstedeKanaaldijk 17, 40 paved pitches, open 1 March to 5 November, no reservations needed.
Stay inside the zonesParking outside marked bays or on the verge is fined by the municipality.
Daytime parking is freeBy day, campers are welcome to park for free at our boat rental while you are on the water.

Tips for campers in Giethoorn
Go out early. Between 10:30 and 15:30 in July and August the canals are at their busiest; before 10:00 you have them almost to yourself, and off-peak boat prices are up to 20% lower.
The Bovenwijde is open water. On a windy day, stay in the village canals or join a canal cruise with a skipper.
Swimming in the lake is allowed; check for blue-green algae warnings in high summer. Rent a bike for €10 a day to explore the Weerribben-Wieden.
Questions about camping in Giethoorn
Can I stay overnight with my camper at Boatrental Giethoorn?
No. Our car parks are for day visitors only. Camperplaats Haamstede at Kanaaldijk 17 has 40 paved pitches with sanitary facilities and wifi.
Can I reserve a pitch at Camperplaats Haamstede?
No, except for groups. The site is open from 1 March to 5 November on a first come, first served basis.
Which campsite is on the water?
Camping De Kragge (Binnenpad 113a) and Vakantiepark Giethoorn both lie directly on the Bovenwijde lake in the centre of the village.
Is there accommodation for a large group?

Yes. Daytime parking at Zuiderpad 14A is free for our guests, including campers.
