What is a whisper boat?
An electric boat: no engine noise, no exhaust fumes and no licence needed. All of our 40-plus rental boats are whisper boats; read more under whisper boat rental.
Can I rent a boat for 2 people?
Yes. The 4-person boat from € 24 per hour is ideal for two; you pay per boat, not per person.
Do you have boats for 10 or 12 people?
Yes: the 12-person boat from € 48 per hour and the luxury VIP sloop for 12 guests. Larger parties are spread over several boats; see groups.
Can I rent a boat for the whole day?
Yes. Rent for 1, 2, 3, 4 or 6 hours, or a whole day. The longer you rent, the lower the hourly price; see the prices page.
What is the cheapest way to rent a boat in Giethoorn?
Book online, directly with us: you pay the guaranteed lowest price. If you sail before 12:00 or after 18:00 (after 17:30 at weekends), you also get up to 20% off-peak discount on the 4- to 12-person boats, at weekends too. No coupon codes needed.
Where exactly is the boat rental and is there parking?
At Zuiderpad 14A, Giethoorn, at the entrance of the village canal, with free parking for cars, campers and coaches right next to the boats.
Can my dog come on the rental boat?
Yes, for € 11.95 per dog. More on Giethoorn with a dog.
Do I need a boating licence?
No. All our rental boats are licence-free. The person steering must be at least 12 years old.
Are the boats easy to steer?
Yes. Every boat has a steering wheel and a simple forward/reverse handle. You get a short explanation at the dock and the navigation app guides you.
Can I rent a boat when it rains?
Yes. The rental boats are open, so bring a jacket. If you prefer, you can reschedule depending on availability.
Can I bring my own food and drinks?
Yes, you are welcome to bring your own. You can also order a picnic basket or borrel box during booking.
Where can I moor?
Only at designated mooring places, which are marked in the navigation app. Not along private gardens.
