Canal cruise, large boat
One of our four large cruise boats is wheelchair accessible. Book online and tell us you are bringing a wheelchair, so we schedule that boat and help you on board. Heated, panoramic windows, one hour with a local captain.
The village has many bridges, but the water is level. Our wheelchair-accessible cruise boat, parking next to the dock and toilets make a relaxed day out possible.

Giethoorn is beautiful and old, and that shows: the Binnenpad footpath crosses dozens of arched wooden bridges, many of them with steps, and the paths along the canal are narrow. A walk through the centre with a wheelchair or a heavy walker is hard work and in places impossible.
The good news is that the best view of Giethoorn is from the water anyway, and a boat has no bridges to climb. Our cruise dock at Ds. T.O. Hylkemaweg 7 sits at the entrance of the village, with the car park, the restaurant, toilets and the boats within a few dozen metres of each other.

For a care group, family day or senior outing: the covered boat for up to 52 guests, with your own captain and time to board at your own pace. Wheelchair access on request.

Boarding an open boat means a step down from the dock. Our team is there to give a hand, and a folded walker or cane comes along easily. Not suitable for wheelchair users.

Choose a weekday morning: the paths are quiet, the boats are calm and the rental price is lower. Combine a canal cruise with lunch at the dock so everything is within a few steps. Visitors who find walking tiring get the most out of Giethoorn from the water, where the whole village passes by without a single bridge to cross.
Our seniors page has more ideas for a relaxed day, and for groups we plan boarding, seating and catering together with you via the groups page.

The village itself only partly: the Binnenpad has many bridges with steps and narrow paths. Our cruise dock, car park, toilets and restaurant are level and close together, and the boat is the easiest way to see the village.
Yes. Boarding is a step down from the dock and our team helps. The walker comes along folded. A wheelchair does not fit in the open rental boats; choose the accessible cruise boat instead.
On the cruise boat, yes; tell us when booking. In a self-drive boat a folded pushchair fits, but keep your child seated and consider a children’s life jacket (€ 4.95).
About 25 metres at the cruise dock, and the rental boats leave from the dock next to the car park at Zuiderpad 14A.
There are large toilets at the cruise dock at Hylkemaweg 7. Let us know your needs in advance and we will do what we can.
Call or WhatsApp us before you book and we make sure the right boat and the right help are ready.
