Ice cream is everywhere along the Binnenpad and the Dorpsgracht. IJssalon Koppers at Hylkemaweg 10 has 24 flavours and is a short walk from our cruise dock. Combine with a one- or two-hour boat rental and you have a full family afternoon.

Pancakes as a rainy-day plan
Rain in Giethoorn is not the end of the day. A pancake lunch, the museums on the Binnenpad and our heated canal cruise with panoramic windows (€ 10 per person, one hour) fill an afternoon without getting wet. See what to do in the rain.
Sunny? Start on the water early, before the village fills up between 10:30 and 15:30, and have your pancake afterwards when the terraces are quieter.

Can I take ice cream or a pancake on the boat?
Yes, you may bring your own food and drinks on our rental boats. Please take your rubbish back with you.
How long should I rent a boat with children?
One hour for the village loop, two hours if you want a stop on the lake. See our page for families.
