Start towards the end of the afternoon and you sail into the golden hour. Rental runs until sunset, which is around 22:05 in late June, and a late start gives up to 20% off the standard price.

Dinner. The restaurant at our cruise dock serves a 2- or 3-course dinner from € 24.50 on Delft Blue, with the terrace on the canal. For a once-in-a-lifetime evening, De Lindenhof at Beulakerweg 77 holds two Michelin stars; book well ahead.

Morning: arrive and park for free
Come on a weekday if you can. Park at Zuiderpad 14A and check in within two minutes.
Late morning: two hours on the water
The 2-hour route: village canals plus the Bovenwijde lake, with the picnic basket on board.
Afternoon: walk the Binnenpad
4.3 km along thatched farmhouses, with ice cream and the museums on the way.
Evening: golden hour and dinner
A late-start boat towards sunset, then dinner on the terrace at the cruise dock.
