Easter
The first big weekend. German families are on Easter holidays (NRW 30 Mar–11 Apr 2026). Book ahead.
Fresh colours, birds in the reeds and quiet canals. March to May is the time to discover the village without the crowds.

March is still brisk (9 °C on average), but April and May bring 13 to 17 °C, longer days and the first green on the farmyards. The museums on the Binnenpad reopen daily from early April and the canal-side terraces come back to life.
On the water it is quiet, except around Easter, King’s Day, Ascension Day and Whitsun. On weekdays you often have the village canal to yourself, and an early start earns you up to 20% off-peak discount.
